Destiny 2: The Witch Queen is finally on the horizon. After being announced last Summer, Bungie will finally lift the lid on the next significant content drop for the game later today, delving into the new activities and gameplay additions players can expect, including of course the arrival of Savathûn herself.

The Witch Queen is the first Destiny 2 expansion to launch in the first half of the year. Bungie pushed the release back in March, saying that the team would need the time to make sure it reaches its full potential and delivers on what fans are hoping for.

Destiny 2 Witch Queen Release Date

The Destiny 2 Witch Queen release date is February 22, 2022. The expansion will release on all platforms Destiny 2 is available on, including PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia.

Destiny 2 Witch Queen Editions and Pre-Order Bonuses

Destiny 2’s Witch Queen expansion will have two editions of the game. The base version, the Deluxe Edition, and the Collector’s Edition, which comes with a real-life Hive Ghost.

The game’s Deluxe Edition will come with Season 16 to 19’s Battle Passes, two Year 5 Dungeons, an Exotic SMG, catalyst, ornament, and an Exotic Sparrow.

Standard Edition pre-orders will get The Throne World Exotic Ghost Shell, the Enigma Exotic emote, and an exclusive emblem. Deluxe Edition pre-orders will also get access to these bonuses.

Destiny 2 Witch Queen Story

Destiny 2 The Witch Queen will focus on the Hive god, Savathûn. After the death of Oryx, Savathûn went into hiding and stole the Guardians light.

Savathûn and her Lucent Hive have taken the light and are now able to perform Guardian abilities and even have Ghosts, taking the form of Guardians.

Destiny 2 Witch Queen Savathûn’s Throne World

Savathûn’s Throne World will be the new location added in Destiny 2’s Witch Queen expansion. The location will include Savathûn’s palace, as well as several swamp areas surrounding it.

Destiny 2 Witch Queen Glaive Weapon

The Witch Queen expansion for Destiny 2 will include a new Glaive weapon, that unlocks “powerful melee combos, projectile attacks, and a deployable shield”.

Glaives can only be crafted and aren’t earned in chests or missions.

Destiny 2 Witch Queen New Activities And Features

Destiny 2 will be getting weapon crafting, which allows for “custom weaponry with unique mod, shader, and stat combinations”. This weapon crafting is progression and combat-based so you will upgrade and add traits as you play, customising them to your preference. On top of that, all Weapons in The Witch Queen will be craftable.

Already mentioned above are the new Hive Guardians which will provide a brand new combat challenge. A classic raid will also be remastered for Destiny 2 sometime in 2022.
